As part of my 2012 resolutions, I had said that I was going to blog and write more. In fact, I had written the entire post, but then ended up changing it up after I read this article: 25 Things Writers Should Stop Doing
Why did I rewrite my entire blog post? Because after reading that article I realized that most of those 25 things fed right into my whole resolution to write more. Some points stuck out more than others, but collectively the entire article really meant something to me.
Stop Running Away
Stop Stopping
Stop Worrying
Stop Playing it Safe
Stop Trying to Control the Shit You Can’t Control
Stop Being Afraid
Each of those statements means something different to every person. I’m not going to sit here and explain what they mean to me because that’s not the important part. The important part is that I’m going to do each and every one of those points.
When I started this blog back in November, I was scared of what people would think or say about what I was writing. Two months later, I am still scared about what people will say but I I’m going to stop running away and stop playing it safe and just hit publish more often. I should also say that I will stop self editing. This blog was meant to be an outlet for my creativity and to give me the opportunity to write, and that’s what it’s going to be. So be prepared world, you are going to be reading a lot more of me in 2012.
